MISSION
Our mission is to support the neighborhood elementary school, Burgess Peterson Academy by creating a culture of running and a premier race experience in the East Atlanta community. Burgess Peterson Academy is an integral part of the East Atlanta and Reynoldstown communities; serving a diverse group of students from all socio-economic backgrounds. The students, teachers and administration are dedicated to academic excellence and the hard work shows as they are rated as one of the highest–performing schools in the Atlanta Public School System. Budget cuts in educational spending across the system means that they rely heavily on outside funding from the community, charitable organizations and their own Parent Teacher Association.
ABOUT THE NEIGHBORHOOD
Bordering I-20 to the east and Moreland to west, East Atlanta Village (EAV) represents the eclectic resurgence of historic Atlanta. Known for its laid back neighborhood culture with thriving music scene, EAV prides itself on maintaining a small town feel while being in the heart of Atlanta
THE RACE...
The Runfest showcases a 5k, 1 mile race and fun run in the heart of East Atlanta Village where participants have the rare opportunity to race in the evening and enter multiple competitive events. It’s a unique concept and a great challenge! With substantial cash prizes, the event attracts top local talent. Last year’s 3rd annual race was a success, attracting over 300 participants across the three events. Proceeds from the race will continue to benefit Burgess-Peterson Academy.

Chasing the fast kids
Kids and parents of all ages will be cruising around the half-mile loop. Bring your cameras because it is cuteness overload!

Bring it home strong
Runners will dig deep and try to test their speed on a two lap course around EAV.

Age Group Awards
Each year with the help of parents and teachers, the students of Burgess Peterson help create amazing, handmade awards. We sill continue that tradition. They have always been a huge crowd favorite and bring a smile to everyone's faces.
We will be giving awards on 5 year increments starting with the 10 and under category. Masters and Overall will be pulled out.
Cash Prizes
We have committed $1,000 of cash prizes. Stay tuned for increases to the cash prizes and finalization of the payout structure.
